Working with a business. Two owners. Number of staff, none on business development/Sales. Left to the two owners. Sales flatlined. Stale.
Meeting 1….Sat down with them. Took time to understand the business, where it has been, where it wants to go. The stink of lethargy between the two regarding the thought of grabbing the bulls by the horns and getting out there and sell was over-powering!
Meeting 2….Presented some workable options, I was told, “Typical consultant, telling us what we already know!” Why has it not been done then, I hear you ask.
The stink of lethargy in the room again! Simple question to them, “This is what needs to be done, we all agree to that”
So, “Are you up for it or not?!”
To their credit, they were.
A number of appointments were booked. I made sure the business owner rang me after the appointments to talk it through whilst fresh in their mind. Within three weeks, two nice sized contracts signed up. The second contract signed, A difficult meeting.
The after-pitch call,
I was told, “BOOM”
Just that. I knew what he meant.
I have heard many times, “One swallow does not make a summer” but when I visit the office now, it sure does not stink of lethargy!
